Enjoy a day at sea to explore Nakupenda Beach and Prison Island during your stay in Zanzibar!
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Stone Town harbour. Here, you will board a boat and head to Nakupenda beach. You will enjoy the idyllic setting: the fine sand and turquoise waters. You can lounge on the beach and enjoy snorkelling to see the coral reefs.
At lunchtime, you will enjoy a meal based on fresh fish and/or seafood on the beach (depending on the catch of the day). For dessert, tropical fruit will be served.
In the early afternoon, you will travel to one of Zanzibar's most famous islands, Prison Island. As its name suggests, this island was once home to a prison where slaves were confined, and was even a quarantine site for yellow fever patients.
Today, Prison Island has become a must-see, as it is home to a reserve for giant turtles, a species that is threatened with extinction and has been imported from the Seychelles. For about an hour, you will walk freely in the reserve observing the behaviour of these turtles, many of which are centenarians with unusual sizes.
You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the day.
