Descripción

Relive the early days of the French Revolution. Follow your guide into the Royal Tennis Court, which is now a museum dedicated to the events of 1789!

It was in this room, once used for playing tennis, that the members of parliament from the Third Estate met together on June 20, 1789. They then vowed not to separate until France had its constitution. This vow has been known ever since as a pivotal event for French democracy: “We vow to never separate and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established and consolidated on firm foundations.”

The Royal Tennis Court museum was put in place to commemorate the centenary of that event and retraces the early stages of the French Revolution. Your guide will reveal all the details of that historic year and will give you anecdotes unknown to the public.

Make the most of this tour to the “oath room” and learn all about the events from 1789!
