From Funchal, you will board a sailboat and depart for a day trip. You will head south-east of the island of Madeira to explore the archipelago of the Desertas Islands (Ilhas Desertas) consisting of three islands: Deserta Grande, Chão Islet and Bugio Island. This archipelago is a nature reserve and is home to a seabird sanctuary as well as the Mediterranean monk seal, the rarest monk seal species. You will sail slowly along the coast to admire the breathtaking cliffs and the numerous caves. You will stop to bathe in the clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean and after a hot lunch on board, you will disembark at Doca, located on the island of Deserta Grande, and enjoy a guided tour. You will be taken back to Funchal after a day of sailing.
