** This activity is only available departing from Skeerpoort, a city located about 90 minutes from central Johannesburg. You must provide your own transport from Johannesburg to Skeerpoort. Get ready to see Johannesburg's most amazing landscapes during a sunrise hot air balloon ride! You'll go to the Club House Pavilion in the Magaliesburg region (via your own means of transport), where you'll be warmly welcomed. Have a glass of champagne, tea, coffee, biscuits and muffins before climbing aboard the hot air balloon.

The ride will last around one hour. You can take in the magnificent sunrise set against a backdrop of the incredible landscapes of the Magalies River Valley! Go where the wind takes you to discover the region from the air! You'll fly over mountains, farmland and even the famous Hartbeespoort Dam.

Once back on terra firma, you'll be served refreshments and champagne, and your pilot will present you with a flight certificate!

  • Departure location: Skeerpoort, a small city located about 90 minutes from Johannesburg. You must provide your own transport to this location. The exact address will be given at time of booking.

  • Flight time: very early in the morning.  Times vary according to the season:
  1. 01/11 to 31/01: 5 hours
  2. 01/02 to 29/02 and 16/10 to 31/10: 5:15am
  3. 01/03 to 15/03 and 01/10 to 15/10: 5:30am
  4. 16/03 to 31/03 and 16/09 to 30/09: 5:45am
  5. 01/04 to 30/04 and 01/09 to 15/09: 6 hours
  6. 01/05 to 31/05 and 01/08 to 31/08: 6:15am
  7. 01/06 to 31/07: 6.5 hours
  • To take part in this activity simply present your booking voucher to the local tour operator
  • To take part in this activity, you must be able to jump unassisted from a height of 60cm and stand for 1 hour. Riders are generally between the ages of 7 and 70
  • Hot air balloon flights are very calm and pleasant. You will not experience any feeling of airsickness
  • We recommend you wear warm clothing (layers that you can remove once in the air) and bring a camera
  • A single hot air balloon can hold up to 18 people along with the pilot
  • For safety reasons, high heels MAY NOT be worn
  • A minimum of 2 people is required for the tour to take place. If at least 2 people won't be participating, or in case of inclement weather, you will be offered a refund or an alternative date
  • Reminder: Transport isn't included in this activity. However, if you wish to have a return transfer from your hotel, you can contact our service provider directly on site (whose number is indicated on your voucher). The transfer booking must be made at least 24h before the flight date.
