Take a day trip to explore the Western Algarve, from Lagos to Cape St Vincent!
Portugal's southernmost region, the Algarve is known for its cliffs overlooking the beaches, its historical heritage and its towns that provide great diversity. You will start your excursion with a visit to the historic town of Lagos, and the Church of St. Anthony, a listed national monument, the 16th-century slave market (the first slave market in Europe) and its famous rock formations on the waterfront: Punta da Piedade, created naturally by erosion.
You will have lunch in Lagos (lunch not included). You will then take the road towards Sagres, the westernmost town in the region, enjoyed by surfers. You will discover the fishing port, and you can contemplate the spectacular panorama from its 15th century military fortress. Finally, you will reach the famous Cape St Vincent, also known as "the end of the world" because it is the westernmost point of Europe. After observing one of the most powerful lighthouses in the World, you will have the chance to enjoy a magnificent sunset. You will be driven back to your departure point, after a day in Western Algarve.
