Set off to discover Vietnamese gastronomy in Ho Chi Minh City on this evening food tour!
You’ll meet your guide at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts in the early evening and begin your tasting with local dishes such as chao muc (squid rice porridge) and xa xiu (Cantonese-style barbecued pork). You’ll also learn how Chinese cuisine has influenced and blended into Vietnamese food culture. The tour continues to the intersection of Nguyen Cong Tru and Calmette streets, where you’ll sample a unique dish called bo banh tieu, a type of sesame doughnut. You’ll also hear more about Calmette and Yersin, two disciples of Pasteur who played a key role in establishing the healthcare system in Vietnam. On the way to the next stop, you’ll pass by an old Chinese “community house” paying tribute to Chinese immigration in Ho Chi Minh City. You’ll then enjoy a Vietnamese coffee just like the locals and discover another iconic Vietnamese street food specialty, bo cuon mo chai (grilled beef balls).
The tour continues at a street beer stall, where you’ll enjoy a local beer* with peanuts, a great opportunity to mingle with locals. To end on a sweet note, a final stop will allow you to taste a local flan (crème caramel), the perfect way to conclude this culinary tour.
