Set off for a train journey to the heart of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Travel through time as you take your seat on a perfectly-restored train that dates from the 19th century. The train will wind through the rainforest at more than 300 metres above sea level. Explore the Barron Gorge National Park and take in the panoramic views over the mountains and waterfalls that line the railway.

Your guide will tell you all about the region, its ecosystem and its history.

  • Time: 8:30am and 9:30am in Cairns, 8:55am and 9:55am in Freshwater 
  • Duration: 2 hrs. approx.

  • On board the train, you will be provided with an information guide on the history of the railway, a map of the route and a map of Kuranda.
  • To get to Cairns Station from the city centre, you must cross through Cairns Central Shopping Center.
  • You must check in 15 minutes before the train leaves.
  • The train is accessible to people in a wheelchair
  • As space on board the train is limited, passengers are asked to limit themselves to one piece of hand luggage each
  • No bicycles allowed on board the train
  • The ticket is valid for a one-way journey from Cairns to Kuranda. The return journey is at your own expense. The journey back by car takes around 35 minutes.
