Originally conceived and constructed for the 1958 World Fair, the Atomium was not designed to be a long-standing construction and yet, the unusual structure has since become established as one of Brussels' landmark attractions.
A combination of sculpture and architecture, the Atomium defies all attempts at classification. Half-cubic, half-spherical, the stainless steel structure is both a museum and an exhibition centre, and offers one of the most beautiful 360° degree panoramic views over the Belgian Capital.
Visitors must pass through numerous tubes and spheres to explore this self-proclaimed emblem of universality and peace. The 9 spheres of the Atomium, 102 metres from the ground, house a variety of permanent collections and temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
Come and enjoy this unique attraction and take in Brussels from an entirely different perspective!
