Get together in the early morning at the port of Ponta Delgada (São Miguel Island), where you'll meet your guide. You'll board an air-conditioned bus and head for Lagoa do Canario, around 30 minutes away.
Arriving at Lagoa do Canario, your guide will give a safety briefing and then you'll follow him through the trails. You'll enjoy panoramic views of the crater lakes Lagoa do Canario, Lagoa das Éguas and Lagoa Rasa, and reach the summit Pico das Éguas, which rises to a height of around 870 meters.
During the entire hike, the professional guide will provide commentary and anecdotes, including the importance of the watercourses that surround these trails or all the endemic vegetation present in this region.
You'll reach a must-see spot on the island of São Miguel, the Grota do Inferno viewpoint which offers a view of the lakes as well as the Vista do Rei (King's Lookout) which offers a spectacular view of the Sete Cidades, one of Portugal's seven natural wonders.
You'll be driven back to the starting point, at the port of Ponta Delgada, after a day's hike around Sete Cidades.
